While we hate to give away designers’ trade secrets, we’re going to go ahead: Get a look at just a few of these cutting-edge stylemakers in the Great Western Catskills. You might end up with a totally refreshed home. You’ll certainly fall in love with design all over again.

With decades of design work showcased in magazines like The New York Times Magazine, Elle Décor, and World of Interiors, to mention a few, Sean Scherr is the creative power behind Kabinett & Kammer (422 Main St., Franklin, 607.230.4084). Originally opened in Andes, New York, in 2007, Kabinett & Kammer is now in a beautiful historic building in Franklin and remains committed to serving as a curated gallery of Sean’s inspirational finds for the home. Known for its 19th century natural history prints, specimen shells, weathered antlers, science class models, and vintage taxidermy, Kabinett & Kammer’s offerings constantly evolve. The origin story of Tandem Antiques & Design (119 Main St., Stamford, 607.435.1851) starts in Hudson, New York, where owners Hilary and Steven Eklund met in 1997. Maintaining a retail presence in Hudson and in High Point, North Carolina, the couple that calls Jefferson, New York, home has now opened a Catskill Mountains shop on Main Street in Stamford. The store displays a superb ever-changing collection of antiques, modern design, lamps and lighting, studio pottery, vintage jewelry, paintings, sculpture, and more. Situated in a renovated pharmacy building complete with original details, the shop is open on weekends. But they are happy to open to browsers anytime they are available. Delightfully small, The Stonehouse (92 Main St., Delhi, 917.224.6718) is set up as a mini-bazaar in the heart of the Great Western Catskills. This adorable boutique is chock full with an eclectic mixture of objects from rugs, pillows, textiles, and prints to ceramics and other surprises. Stylist Andrea Menke stocks this shop with found objects and handcrafted goods collected on travels around the world.
